Motel Manager - Waimate

Da Hai Investment Limited located in Kaikoura is a motel with 20 units. Currently we are in need of a motel manager to independently manage the day to day operation of the business.

Your duties may include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and oversee the reception and reservation;
  • Supervise and ensure good customer service is provided;
  • Supervise and ensure timely respond to room service requests and directing house-keeping and work quality checking;
  • Supervise security of the motel by reviewing and supervising security arrangements;
  • Oversee cleanliness and general appearance;
  • Oversee and coordinate building repairs and maintenance including but not limited to lighting, power, heating, air conditioning, floorings, furniture, electricity, plumbing, gardening, window cleaning and etc;
  • Assess customer satisfaction by reviewing the customer comments by emails and accommodation booking website;
  • Deal with customer's complaints and concerns that could not be solved by staff;
  • Ensure that tourism brochures are displayed on places where customer will have easy access to;
  • Provide travel information to customer when asked and help arrange tours and transportation for them when requested;
  • Collect and process advanced payments and record money earned;
  • Review sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement;
  • Determine goods and services to be provided and set prices for room rates and all other services;
  • Oversee purchasing activities;
  • Interview, hire, supervise and manage holiday park staff;
  • Train staff members to ensure efficient operation and adherence to holiday park policies and procedure;
  • Assign tasks to each staff and ensure the quality of work;
  • Ensure government health, occupational safety and licensing regulations are followed; and
  • Such other duties that the Employer may reasonably request from time to time.
To be successful in this role, you need
  • NZQF Level 4 Diploma or higher qualification business/management/hospitality field, or at least three years’ relevant work experience
  • Excellent skills in business management and administration, customer service, negotiation, communication, interpersonal and marketing are prerequisite;
  • Be available to work on weekends and public holidays
  • Flexibility to work within a 7-Days a week operation including split shifts
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills and team spirit
  • Able to work till late evenings
  • Clean police record and can pass drug tests

Other details:

  • Work location: Kaikoura, Canterbury Region
  • Length of employment: Full time and permanent
  • Hourly rate: $31 to $35 per hour
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (Minimum 30 hours guaranteed).
