About the Role:An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Midwife to join our team of Clinical Specialist Diabetes in Pregnancy Community Midwives.The team provides continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, at home, in clinics, and digitally by phone, video call and other remote methods across the whole of the Counties Manukau District of South Auckland.This role will be working alongside women who have pre-existing Types 1 or 2 diabetes and those who have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy.
The focus will be on providing a high standard of individualised diabetes care, with some scope for also providing direct antenatal and postnatal midwifery care for women with complex care needs as their primary care midwife alongside your diabetes specialist role.
A significant part of the work will be in partnership with self-employed midwives when they are providing the primary care for women with diabetes.The hours of work are mainly Monday Friday, with some occasional on-call weekend duties to provide antenatal and postnatal care.
When staffing levels permit, the ability to have some agreed rostered daytime working from home may be possible. The ability to work flexibly occasionally on weekends and evenings is also required in order to individualise our diabetes care to women whoh may require intensive monitoring and support.
Our team office is in Wiri, Manukau.Ideally, the successful candidate for this senior midwifery role will have had experience of working with women who have had diabetes during their pregnancy, however this is not essential. Although you will need to be an experienced registered, practising Midwife currently in New Zealand.
