The opportunity
Are you passionate about hospitality and creating memorable customer experiences? We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Front of House Duty Manager to be a part of our cafe; team and ensure every visitor enjoys a warm and welcoming environment.
As the Front of House Duty Manager, you'll be the face of Sugar Cafe, responsible for running shifts, maintaining high service standards, and supporting a positive team culture. This is a hands-on role where you'll work alongside the team, actively contributing to daily operations and leading by example.You'll play a key role in ensuring smooth service, safety compliance, and financial accountability, while promoting the wider Chelsea Bay experience.

The primary responsibilities for this role include the following:- Lead the Front of House team during shifts, ensuring exceptional customer service
- Uphold liquor license responsibilities and safety standards
- Maintain a clean, inviting, and efficient cafe; environment
- Handle customer feedback with empathy and professionalism
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to support their growth and performance
- Coordinate with internal teams for maintenance and operational needs
- Ensure accurate cash handling and financial reporting
- Experience in cafe or customer service roles
- Previous experience supervising staff is preferred
- Duty Manager certificate
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for customer service
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand immediately
