International Student Services Coordinator

This position is 20 hours part time per week, 52 weeks (with additional hours required at peak times), Grade 4 on the support staff collective agreement.

As our programme expands, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team and provide essential support to our international students, ensuring their continued well-being and successful integration into our school community.Purpose of the Role
The International Programme Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the holistic well-being and successful integration of international students within Onslow College and the wider community. This role involves coordinating student living arrangements and providing direct support for the international student programme, working closely with the Director of International to uphold the highest standards of pastoral care.
Student Welfare & Pastoral Care- Provide dedicated pastoral care and support to international students, acting as the primary point of contact for non-academic issues.
- Monitor student well-being, progress, and attendance, and facilitate initiatives to help students integrate into school and community life.
- Manage a designated after-hours emergency phone line to ensure students and accommodation providers have support for urgent issues.
- Recruit, screen, and approve student accommodation providers, ensuring all homes meet the standards required by New Zealand’s Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.
- Conduct thorough police vetting and identity checks for all adults in host homes and maintain a secure database of vetting records, ensuring they are regularly updated.
- Thoughtfully match students with appropriate host families, considering student needs and preferences.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to both students and host families, and conduct regular check-ins and visits.
- Provide administrative support, including maintaining student and accommodation records, managing databases, and preparing reports.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of comprehensive orientation programmes for new students and host families.
- Support the Director of International Students with correspondence and reporting to external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Required
Essential:- Demonstrated experience in a coordination or administrative role, preferably within an education or welfare setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting young people from different cultures.
- Proficiency in productivity suites (Google Workspace), database management, and digital fluency
- A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Previous experience working with international students or in a student accommodation environment.
- Knowledge of the New Zealand education system, particularly at secondary school level.
- Familiarity with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.
- A second language relevant to the school's international student demographic is desirable but not essential.
