RB Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to join a growing team supporting major infrastructure projects across the Canterbury region.This is a unique opportunity to work across tender strategy, procurement, and project delivery, partnering with some of the country's most respected civil contractors, government agencies, and infrastructure alliances.
The role offers exposure to large-scale infrastructure programmes, early contractor involvement (ECI), and complex civil delivery environments.
The Opportunity
You will work closely with contractors and project teams to provide practical construction leadership across tendering, procurement, and project execution.
Projects may include:
- Major infrastructure developments
- Bridge and structural works
- Marine and piling projects
- Heavy civils and earthworks
- Three waters infrastructure
You will provide technical leadership, construction methodology advice, and delivery oversight, ensuring projects are planned, staged, and executed effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Lead or support tender and procurement processes including bid management and methodology development
- Provide construction staging, sequencing, and methodology advice for major infrastructure projects
- Conduct constructability reviews of design and temporary works solutions
- Support contractors and clients with project delivery planning and risk management
- Act in roles such as Engineer's Representative, Engineer to Contract, or Contract Administrator where required
- Provide guidance on commercial risk, programme development, and project strategy
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a highly experienced civil construction professional who understands the realities of delivering complex projects.
Essential experience:
- 15+ years' experience delivering civil infrastructure projects in New Zealand
- Holds a tertiary qualification in civil engineering from a recognised university.
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering technology
- Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Has worked for Tier 1 contractor or smaller contractor who deliver specialised technical projects.
- Specialises in at least one Civil Engineering Discipline (bridges/marine/ground/heavy civils/three waters)
- Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer on projects valued $50M+
- Strong knowledge of NZS3910 contracts
- Experience with construction programming (MS Project or equivalent)
- Demonstrated capability in construction methodology and constructability reviews
- NZ HSQE compliance
- High level user of Microsoft Office Suite
Technical background in one or more of the following:
- Bridge or structural construction
- Marine / piling / wharf construction
- Ground engineering or geotechnical works
- Heavy civil earthworks
- Three waters infrastructure

Package- $150,000 - $200,000 salary

Location
Projects are based primarily in Christchurch, however applications are welcomed from professionals located in Auckland, Wellington, or other major centres who are willing to travel for project work.
