About the role
his role supports the management of environmental functions across Sanford Mussels operations. Key to this role is facilitating and supporting the integration of environmental elements of the Sanford business strategy into operations.
You will:
- Ensure environmental compliance with all relevant regulations, consents, and company policies.
- Manage and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, including audits, inspections, and impact assessments.
- Oversee hazardous substance (HSNO) management, ensuring safety, compliance, and documentation.
- Lead sustainability and environmental improvement projects to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Track and report environmental data, including water quality, energy use, and carbon inventory.
- Educate site teams through training, communication, and awareness initiatives.
- Support development of SOPs with environmental considerations and manage incident reporting and corrective actions
What we're look for:
- 3+ years' experience in environmental compliance, preferably in aquaculture, primary industries, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand environmental regulations, resource consents, and ISO 14001 systems.
- Familiarity with HSNO legislation and best practices for hazardous substances management.
- Proven ability to collect, analyse, and report on environmental performance data.
- Confident communicator, able to deliver training and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and environmental stewardship.
