We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our vibrant and passionate organisation. At Community Connections, we believe in doing things collectively, driven by our unwavering passion for empowering people with disabilities to live the lives they choose.

About Us

We are a community-based disability support provider that operates across much of the North Island. Our Vision is of an inclusive New Zealand where people with disabilities are embraced as fully participating citizens, where barriers to inclusion are removed, and where all people are respected and valued for who they are.

We believe that people with disabilities can and should live the life they choose, on their own terms and within the community of their choice.

Community Connections is an Equal Employment Opportunities employer, and we love diversity in what we do and whom we employ. We are committed to Te Tiriti O Waitangi, the UN Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the NZ Disability strategy.

We encourage people with lived experience of disability, mental health, Maori, Pasifika, people from other backgrounds and/or from the LGBTQIA+ community to apply.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate Support Worker to empower individuals with complex disabilities and help them achieve independence. Your role will involve daily support in personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks for an active individual who enjoys walks, swimming, and an energetic lifestyle.

You’ll be part of a compassionate team providing 24/7 residential support in a safe and engaging environment.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Support Worker to assist an individual who leads an active lifestyle, enjoying daily walks of 5 to 10 kilometres and swimming in pools and the ocean.

The ideal candidate should be able to keep up with this level of activity and possess strong time management and problem-solving skills. Experience with individuals displaying challenging behaviours and a solid understanding of autism and intellectual disabilities is highly desirable.

You should feel confident participating in daily walks (5–10 km) and be comfortable around water.

We are seeking a motivated team player who can follow support plans and assist the individuals we serve in living their best lives. Our goal is to create a workplace where everyone can thrive and contribute to the best of their abilities.

What we are looking for
  • Experience in personal care, particularly with individuals who have challenging behaviours, autism, and intellectual disabilities.
  • The ability to follow support plans and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to empowering individuals to live their best lives.

Why Join Us

At Community Connections, we provide a supportive team environment where you can work alongside like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the community we support.

We value your dedication and hard work, and in return, we offer a range of benefits, such as access to an Employee Assistance Program, a weekend rate, and various opportunities for training and professional development.

If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference every day, we want you to join our team.

Please note

Candidates must have a valid FULL New Zealand driver's licence, the legal right to work in New Zealand, and be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks. A first-aid certificate is also required. Only candidates meeting these criteria will be shortlisted.
