Auckland Sea Kayaks operates within one of New Zealand's most diverse sea kayak locations - the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park / Tikapa Moana / Te Moananui-a-Toi and also holds Department of Conservation concessions for various locations throughout Northland.

We require 1 Experienced Sea Kayak Guide to join as a permanent team member.

Auckland Sea Kayaks offers a huge range of products ranging from hourly rentals and instructional courses to guided sea kayak tours and multi-day youth development journeys.

Auckland Sea Kayaks was founded in such a way that we use our love for the outdoors, kayaking expertise, conservation commitment and years of paddling, to provide the most genuine, marine-based experiences possible. We are looking for staff who are committed to educating and entertaining our guests in a safe and fun environment.

This is a full time permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours work. Pay rate is $30 an hour.

The primary objectives of this position are:

Health and Safety
  • Operating ASK tours and groups to that of the Safety Management Plan (SMP)
  • Running ASK to that of the Safe Operating procedures (SOP)
  • Identify new hazards and ways to mitigate them
  • Work with the staff and management to achieve our Health and Safety goal
which is ‘Zero harm to Auckland Sea Kayaks staff, clients and visitors.’
  • Be committed to accurate reporting and recording hazards, incidents and

accidents. Ensure that other staff also complete any required reporting.

Guiding
  • Guiding sea kayak tours
  • Working within our Safe Operating Systems
  • Facilitate large school and corporate groups
  • Instructing kayak & SUP skill sessions
  • Assisting with our marine based education trips with local schools
  • Take photos & videos on tours and share with marketing team
Applicants must have
  • Hold a sea kayak qualification either Sea Kayak 1 Certificate from New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association (NZOIA) or American Canoe Association - Level 3: Coastal Kayaking or British Canoeing Awarding Body Sea Kayak Leader (tidal) or Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level-2 Skills or equivalent
  • Coastguard VHF radio certificate
  • Drivers license
