Sales Manager- Organic Vegetable Farm

Streamside Organics is a certified organic vegetable farm producing over 40 seasonal crops across 50 hectares. We supply 350+ weekly vege boxes, attend two farmers markets, and sell to wholesale customers across New Zealand.
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive Sales Manager to lead our sales systems, customer relationships, and daily order coordination — while juggling the realities of a diverse, seasonal product range.
What You’ll Do:- Manage weekly sales: generate orders, liaise with customers, and ensure targets are realistic and achievable for the team
- Prepare daily crop availability lists and forecast upcoming harvests
- Set pricing and track sales performance
- Adapt to seasonal changes in crop availability and plan proactively (40+ crop lines each with unique storage, packing, and delivery needs)
- Find sales outlets for excess produce and explore new customer channels
- Monitor market trends and adjust sales strategies accordingly
- Deliver exceptional customer service and accurate, on-time order fulfilment
- Create monthly reports and track progress against KPIs
- Support compliance with organic certification, traceability, and accurate record-keeping
- Collaborate on basic marketing efforts where needed (e.g. newsletters, product updates, small campaigns)
- Train, supervise or delegate to admin support staff where applicable
- Oversee the operations from exiting the Packhouse till they reach the customer
- Proven experience in sales or account management
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage a number of tasks on the go at once, and prioritize according to urgency
- Confidence using Excel, Xero, and email/CRM systems
- Experience setting and achieving sales targets
- Strong numeracy skills — confident working with pricing, margins, and reports
- Calm under pressure and able to manage stressful situations
- Awareness of the demands of seasonal farming and availability to work extended hours during peak periods.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to pitch in across the business
- Ability to supervise or delegate tasks to admin/logistics staff if needed
- Full-time (40+ hours/week) — flexibility required during busy periods
- Pay: $32–$35/hour, depending on experience
- Based on-farm near Leeston, Canterbury
