We are seeking a responsible and safety-conscious B-Class Asbestos Removal Technician to carry out the removal of non-friable (B-Class) asbestos materials in compliance with WorkSafe NZ regulations and company procedures. This role involves travelling to the site in either Auckland, the Bay if Plenty or the Waikato area.You will be preparing the work area, removing bonded asbestos sheeting (e.g. cladding, soffits, vinyl, etc.), using hand tools and PPE/RPE, and ensuring safe containment and disposal.
This role is full time Monday - Friday and will be 30 hours per week
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Prepare the asbestos removal area by setting up barricades, warning signs, and polythene enclosures if needed
- Wear and maintain correct PPE and RPE at all times
- Remove non-friable asbestos material (e.g. cement sheets, vinyl tiles) using safe and approved techniques
- Use mist spray or PVA solution to minimise airborne fibres
- Handle and transport asbestos waste in approved double-lined bags or trailers
- Decontaminate tools and equipment after use
- Ensure the site is cleaned and visually inspected prior to clearance
- Work under the supervision of a competent person or supervisor as required
- Follow company policies, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and Asbestos Removal Control Plans (ARCP)
- NZQA B-Class Asbestos Removal Certificate (Non-friable)
- Minimum 6 Months of experience in similar positions
- Full understanding of WorkSafe NZ asbestos regulations
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good physical fitness and awareness of safety at all times
