Environmental Restoration Landscaping Positions (Fixed Term)

Native Solutions Ltd has multiple full-time fixed-term Environmental Restoration Landscaping positions available for the upcoming season, running from late March through to late September.

These roles are based in the Canterbury region, with work carried out across a range of sites. There may be occasional away work, and accommodation will be provided when this is required.

A minimum of three years’ experience in Forestry or Landscaping is required. Successful applicants must be able to hit the ground running and work effectively in a physically demanding outdoor environment.

About the Role

The Environmental Restoration Landscaper is responsible for the installation and maintenance of NZ native and forestry plantings. This is a physically demanding role requiring a high level of fitness, confidence working on steep terrain, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Successful applicants will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week, with additional hours offered from time to time depending on workload and project requirements.

Remuneration: $28 – $32 per hour, depending on experience. Per piece agreements are available in the planting season.

Primary Tasks

NZ native and forestry species planting

Identifying plant species

Selecting appropriate species for terrain and site conditions

Correct planting and cultivation techniques

Working across varied soils, terrain, and weather conditions

Staking of individual plants where required

Release spraying and weed control (chemical and manual)

Seed collection and preparation for future planting seasons

Mulch spreading (manual or with machinery assistance)

Watering plants to maintenance standards

May involve animal pest control

Working as part of a team to deliver work efficiently and safely

Preferred Attributes

Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience

Knowledge of NZ native restoration and forestry species

Honest, reliable, and a strong team player

Physically fit with a head for heights

Career-oriented with a willingness to learn

First Aid certification (advantageous)
