The Role | Te mahi

We are seeking a Porter to provide an exceptional level of service that exceeds expectations of our guests. This role plays a key part in welcoming and assisting our guests, so a warm smile and helpful attitude are a must. If you enjoy supporting others, being on the move, and creating a positive first impression, we’d love to hear from you.

Reporting to the Duty Manager and Front Office Manager, you will ideally have experience in a similar role in a hotel environment. You will be passionate, well organised, be calm under pressure and have knowledge of local area. Ultimately, you will be responsible for ensuring our guests receive a memorable guest experience that is tailored to their individual needs.

This is a permanent, part time role of 20 hours per week minimum, based at Sudima Lake Rotorua. Weekend availability is essential.

Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa
  • Assist with guest enquiries
  • Ensure guest messages, dry cleaning are delivered in a timely manner
  • Communicate with DM or FOM of any issue/s that are raised
  • Assist Front Desk during busy check in and check out to ensure guests are receiving the best possible services
  • Record all luggage stored in an orderly manner
  • Keep the luggage store room tidy and accessible at all times
  • Follow any emergency procedures from DM when an emergency arises
  • Must be updated on the knowledge of all room categories and amenities
  • Hotel security floor checks
  • Regularly inspect the lobby and public areas to ensure that the standards of the hotel are maintained and comfortable for guests, visitors as well as employees.

  • Commit to minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Ability to work shifts.
  • Preferred that has full driver's license.
  • Professional personal presentation and a great work ethic.
  • Ability to work well within a team and build and maintain successful working relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise conflicting tasks professionally.
  • Strong guest service orientation.
  • Demonstrates initiative and flexibility.
  • Reliable, honest, and takes pride in their work
  • Mature in both approach and attitude
  • A team player who works well with others and follows directions
  • Friendly and approachable, with a genuine passion for delivering great service to our guests
  • Confident communicating with people from all walks of life
  • Right to Work in New Zealand.
