Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Whanganui is committed to delivering high-quality oral health care and supporting whanau wellbeing. We are looking for a dedicated Dental Assistant to provide chairside support and assist in the smooth day-to-day running of our dental clinics.
About the Role
As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with Dentists and Dental Therapists/Hygienists to ensure efficient clinical operations and excellent patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing chairside assistance during dental procedures
- Managing clinic preparation and maintaining a clean, professional environment
- Promoting oral health education to patients and whanau
- Ensuring strict infection control protocols are followed
- Supporting administrative tasks and patient flow
This role is pivotal in creating a positive experience for patients and supporting the delivery of safe, effective dental services.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail
- Culturally aware, committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and whanau-centred care
- Able to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly
- Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role
Essential:
- Minimum NCEA Level 1 (Year 11) or equivalent
- Current NZ driver's licence
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality
Desirable:
- Previous dental or healthcare experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office, patient management systems)
