Experienced Cook Wanted – Early Childhood Centre - Dargaville

We are a well-established early childhood centre located in Kaiwaka, Northland, currently seeking an experienced cook to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about children’s health and nutrition and who understands the importance of safe and balanced meals in a childcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare daily meals for children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate, nutritious menus that support children’s growth and development
- Ensure all kitchen operations comply with food hygiene and safety standards and National Program 2
- Manage food purchasing, stock control, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen with standard
- Cater to special dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, cultural or religious restrictions)
- Collaborate with centre staff to promote healthy eating habits
- Proven experience in cooking, preferably in a childcare, school, or similar group setting
- Knowledge of New Zealand food safety regulations, especially Food Act 2014, Food Control Plan and National Programme 2
- Current Food Handler Certificate (preferred)
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Passionate about preparing meals for children in a safe, supportive environment
- Previous experience in an early learning centre kitchen is an advantage
- Weekday, daytime hours (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays)
