About the Role

Are you an experienced and dedicated nurse seeking a rewarding leadership role? Whakatane Hospital is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Clinical Nurse Coordinator - Acute Flow in our Emergency Department (ED). As a designated senior nurse position, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care while fostering a supportive environment for our staff.

As the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in providing direct clinical coordination and expertise to ensure a safe and efficient practice environment for both patients and staff. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patient care, facilitating effective patient flow, promoting teamwork, and maintaining communication across departments.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in the rostered role of Acute Patient Flow coordinator
  • Coordinate and monitor the provision of safe, evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Monitor patient flow from presentation to discharge, admission, or transfer of care.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating clinical competence and providing support to team members.
  • Maintain communication links within the Emergency Department and across other hospital departments.
  • Incorporate Treaty of Waitangi principles into care delivery to support Maori health initiatives.
  • Respond to legal and ethical dilemmas in collaboration with departmental leadership.

About You

The preferred candidate should come equipped with extensive experience in emergency care. You must demonstrate strong leadership and communication abilities while exhibiting a dedication to ongoing professional growth and upholding clinical proficiency.

You should possess the capability to proactively handle clinical risks and uphold adherence to health and safety regulations. Additionally, experience in spearheading quality improvement endeavours and engaging in clinical audit activities is highly desirable.
