Health Care Assistant

  • St Andrews, Dunedin
  • Permanent part-time; two positions available.
  • Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent will be an added advantage

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team at St Andrews, Dunedin.

The Role

You'll put your practical skills and compassion into supporting residents with everyday activities such as personal care, assistance at mealtimes, and general care duties that make for happier, healthier living at an Enliven home. You will work hard, but there are few jobs that will give you the immense satisfaction of working for people who are grateful for your help and who contribute to an enriching working environment.

Hours: Permanent part-time; 30 hours per week relieving as rostered with a variety of shifts and days. Additional shifts can be worked by mutual agreement.

About You

The ideal applicant will:

  • Be empathetic, compassionate, and patient
  • Work well in a team
  • Enjoy working alongside older people
  • Be physically fit and strong
  • Have enthusiasm and a sense of humour
  • Experience in an aged care environment is preferred, but not essential as full training will be provided
  • Applicants who hold the Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent, or the Dementia Limited Credit Programme would have an advantage. Health Care Assistants without formal qualifications will undertake study while working at St Andrews, and we will help you with this.
  • Having or willing to get a medication competency is preferred.
