FULL-TIME SENIOR RETAIL ASSISTANT
Picton- 36–38 hours per week • $25–$30/hr (experience-based)

We’re a friendly, locally-owned gift, souvenir, and variety store in the heart of Picton. With a steady mix of locals, year-round ferry travellers and busy cruise-ship days in summer, we welcome everyone.
Locals rely on us for everyday essentials, last minute gifts, school project supplies and those hard to find items. We are a community hub that also welcomes travellers from around the world. From the practical to the memorable, we take pride in helping people find what they need.
We’re looking for an intelligent, engaging, energetic full-timer who takes initiative and has the potential to grow into a future manager.
About the Role
This is a senior, trusted position — perfect for someone who enjoys responsibility and variety.
You will be responsible for:
- Opening and closing the store
- Running the shop confidently on your own
- Ensuring friendly, intuitive customer service
- Managing weekend and part-time staff
- Keeping the store tidy, organised, and well-presented
- Managing stock levels across all product categories
- Maintaining strong visual standards for displays
- Ordering from supplier websites
- Using strong maths and problem-solving skills in daily tasks
- Working one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)

- Happy to work one weekend day and be flexible during busy periods (cruise ship days, summer and Christmas)
- Willing to take on more responsibility over time
- First aid trained — or willing to get it
Prior retail experience will give you an advantage.
Hours & Pay- 36–38 hours per week
- Mostly consistent roster, with the ability to be flexible during summer cruise-ship days, school holidays and Christmas
- $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and capability
