About Us

Te Whare Aio Maori Women's Refuge is located in the heart of Manurewa with offices in Central Auckland. We work with the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges.

We are a small team and have a large community, our Mahi is not for the faint-hearted, and you must be prepared to advocate hard for our wahine.

The Role

Your typical day is managing a client base of wahine, referrals come to us from the Police, Whanau, and self-referrals.

Working with our wahine in the community, supporting their needs, and referring to suitable external services.

You can't be shy, you must have a go-get-em attitude to advocate. Bring your networking skills with you, the agencies you will work with vary depending on the needs of our wahine. MSD, Kainga Ora, local Marae, CMDHB, Oranga Tamariki, Police, physicians, you name it.

This is a permanent 40 hours a week role, however, the support of our Wahine and Tamariki isn't 9 to 5 you must be flexible, and rostered weekend work is required

About you

Strong work ethic and integrity

Highly organised

A background in either social services/mental health/addictions/ DV and FV

A social work qualification or equivalent essential

Experience working with social services

Strong relationship-building, and community networking skills

Highly developed written and oral communication skills

Strong cultural competency

Warm, empathetic, and able to focus on the needs of Maori Wahine and Tamariki

A high level of personal and professional accountability

Competent with computer software

High energy is required to work with our whanau, no two days are the same.

Work well collaborating within a team

Applicants for this position must hold NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
