Stuart Drummond Transport is the leading log cartage provider in the top of the south with a modern fleet, a strong safety culture, and a reputation for looking after our people. We operate across Nelson, Marlborough, and the West Coast, specialising in log cartage and bin wood operations.

As our operation continues to grow, we are seeking a Workshop Parts Coordinator to support the smooth, accurate, and efficient operation of our internal workshop located in Richmond.

This is a key support role focused on parts, inventory, and workshop administration, ensuring our mechanics have the right parts at the right time and that workshop systems and records are accurate and reliable.

About the role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Parts Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Managing workshop job cards and records within Ostendo
  • Coordinating parts procurement and supplier liaison
  • Maintaining accurate inventory and stock control
  • Supporting workshop planning by ensuring parts availability
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support to the workshop team

This role is critical in minimising vehicle downtime and supporting the performance of our workshop and fleet.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage, review, and close job cards in Ostendo with a high level of accuracy
  • Ensure parts and labour are correctly allocated to each job
  • Order and receipt parts, tracking outstanding orders and lead times
  • Maintain accurate stock levels, including cycle counts and stocktakes
  • Liaise with suppliers and escalate pricing or lead-time decisions as required
  • Act as a key coordination point between mechanics, the Leading Hand, and the Workshop Manager
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workshop systems and processes

About you

You’ll ideally bring:
  • Experience in a workshop, mechanical, parts, or inventory-focused environment
  • Strong administrative and computer skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Practical understanding of vehicle parts and workshop processes
  • Experience with inventory or parts management systems (Ostendo highly desirable)
  • Strong organisation, time-management, and communication skills
  • A reliable, accurate, and accountable working style
  • No formal qualification is required. A full NZ Class 1 driver licence is essential.
