  • 3pm, Permanent Position Mō te tūnga | About the roleInvercargill Prison is seeking a capable and compassionate leader to oversee operations within Prison Industries, including Kitchen, Laundry, Grounds Horticulture and Painting.

This role is essential in delivering high-quality services while supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of the men in our care.We are looking for someone with a strong background in catering, sound financial understanding, and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team.

You will be responsible for managing the kitchen environment, including planning and scheduling work, allocating tasks, and maintaining high standards of service delivery.

You will also be expected to foster a respectful and inclusive team culture, while confidently managing a range of personalities and supporting staff development.Strong organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work with spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel to manage budgets, stock control, and reporting.

You will be accountable for the smooth running of kitchen operations and will play a key role in building relationships with commercial partners and overseeing training and qualifications for the men in prison.This role contributes directly to Ara Poutama Aotearoa's Hōkai Rangi Strategy by creating meaningful engagement and supporting positive outcomes for both staff and the men in prison.Please note, as this is a custodial role you will be required to go to our National Learning Centre in Upper Hutt for five weeks of training.Mōu | About you Strong leadership skills and experience in coaching and managing staff, including navigating challenging interpersonal dynamicsExcellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to work with commercial partnersWell-developed organisational and administrative skills, including confidence using Microsoft ExcelFinancial literacy and a strong sense of accountability in managing budgets and resourcesA proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to embrace and lead changeExperience working within Māori or Pasifika environments, or a strong willingness to learn and engage respectfullyExperience as an adult educator or New Zealand Qualifications Authority assessor and a current first aid is highly desirable Ngā painga | The benefitsThe salary this role will be appointed to is $92,484.Onsite gymMō mātou | About us Join Ara Poutama Aotearoa
