The overarching goal is to improve the health status of Quota Refugees in alignment with goal three of the New Zealand Refugee Resettlement Strategy: Health and wellbeing: refugees and their families enjoy healthy, safe and independent lives.We have an opportunity available for a senior nurse to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, based in Levin.This permanent, part-time role requires you to utilise your specialist nursing knowledge and nursing judgment to apply whānau-centred, holistic, innovative nursing care to meet the needs of patients, whānau and communities.You will provide specialist nursing, expertise and clinical leadership that ensures services to clients are provided in the most effective and efficient way.
Ensuring all new arrivals have their specific health needs identified, and culturally appropriate holistic healthcare plans developed that also encompass the determinants of health. Facilitate and coordinate care, both internally within the program team and with all external stakeholders.
Manage relationships with contracted providers, in partnership with the Programme Lead.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered NurseHolds a current Annual Practising CertificateMinimum of five years of recent clinical experience in nursing roles relevant to the position, including clinical experience supporting consumers with complex health issues, and working with culturally and linguistically diverse communitiesExperience in a nursing leadership roleKnowledge and experience in the New Zealand health system and social servicesExperience supporting former refugees as individuals and communities to access appropriate health care to meet their need, including: An advanced understanding of the international conventions, protocols and agreements on the rights and status of refugeesKnowledge of the rights of refugees in New ZealandUnderstanding of the refugee resettlement process in New ZealandWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
