Servicing Electrician - Dairy
Our client is a well-established, local engineering outfit with a strong footprint in the dairy sector. They're known for being practical, reliable, and getting the job done properly. The team is tight-knit, experienced, and values people who can think for themselves and get stuck in.
Historically they have contracted out their electrical work, however with a steady workload and a vision to not only meet existing demand but grow it further, they are now looking to bring an experienced Registered Electrician into the crew full time. This is a hands-on role servicing dairy farms across the Canterbury region, with a good mix of maintenance, breakdowns, and upgrade work. It's a position that offers real variety, along with the chance to step into some light engineering work when things are quieter on the electrical side.
What's in it for you:
- Loyal, experienced team with a roll up your sleeves attitude
- Huge variety including the opportunity to learn basic engineering skills alongside your electrical work
- The kind of tenure employers could only dream about, with a warm, friendly, family-feel
- Permanent full-time position, $40 - $45 per hour wages + vehicle
- Overtime and on-call allowances as well
This role will suit someone who enjoys being on the tools, likes variety in their day, and wants to be part of a team that values experience and getting the job done right. You'll be working across a range of sites, primarily within the dairy sector, keeping plant and equipment running as it should.
Day-to-day, that means fault-finding, maintenance, repairs, and helping with upgrades or improvements where needed.
There's an expectation that you'll take ownership of your work and operate with a fair bit of independence on-site, however a key part of the role is supporting an apprentice, mentoring them on the tools and signing off their work as they progress. These guys have a proud history of retaining junior staff and bringing them up through the ranks, and strong leadership is a big part of their culture.
When electrical work slows down, you'll have the chance to get involved in practical engineering tasks, adding some variety and allowing you to build your skillset further. There aren't too many electrical roles in Christchurch offering that opportunity!
What we're looking for:
- NZ Registered Electrician with a current practising licence
- Dairy or industrial servicing experience preferred but not essential
- Willingness and ability to work an on-call roster
- Reliable, practical, and safety-conscious
- Strong communication and a no-nonsense attitude
