Empowering Our Mokopuna

Te Atakura o Ngati Ruanui is a kaupapa Maori initiative designed to reimagine how we care for and uplift our mokopuna and their whanau when state care is involved. Embedded in the values of the Tiaki model, our approach is centred on cultural reconnection, connection and harmony with their environment, and holistic support.

We are seeking a committed and passionate Support Officer to join our caring team. In this important role, the successful applicant will support the delivery of high-quality services and ensure the coordination and administration of core operations across our mokopuna-focused initiatives.

This is a full-time, permanent role working Sunday to Thursday.

About the Role

As the Support Officer, you will be the backbone of our operational and cultural commitments. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the development and direction of Te Atakura o Ngati Ruanui's kaupapa
  • Transportation of whanau /mokopuna where required
  • Coordinating internal and external communications and relationships
  • Promoting connectedness between mokopuna and their whanau
  • Ensuring legal compliance and risk management
  • Driving service evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Managing mokopuna support plans and documenting progress
  • Embedding tikanga and kawa into daily operations

About You

You are someone who:
  • Has a deep passion for supporting the uri of Ngati Ruanui and the aspirations of our mokopuna
  • Possesses excellent organisational, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a collaborative, multicultural environment
  • Has experience working with tamariki and whanau in care and protection contexts
  • Brings a sound understanding of tikanga Maori and the principles of mokopuna-centred care
  • Is tech-savvy and confident using administrative software
  • Holds a full, clean driver’s licence and can pass Police Vetting
  • Is physically fit for the role and has a strong sense of personal responsibility in health and safety practices
