About the Team/Service/ Location At the Hutt, we are a busy, friendly unit with some exciting things happening in the future, including a large scale refurbishment of our unit.
On average we provide primary and secondary maternity care to around 1800 pregnant people and their whānau a year and we are committed to providing high quality care to our community.

The Maternity Care Assistant works under the direction and delegation of a Registered Midwife, or Registered Nurse as an unregulated healthcare worker. You will only be delegated tasks that do not require specialised knowledge, judgment, or skill. You will remain responsible for your actions while the Midwife or Nurse is accountable for the delegation decision, assessment, and evaluation of outcomes. The Maternity Care Assistant will receive training to complete specific tasks within defined boundaries.
- s working hours will be decided by the clinical area and may include rostered and rotating shifts.
Orientation will be provided.
