About the RoleWe currently have a vacancy for a registered nurse to join our District Nursing Service. The position covers both rural and urban bases within the Hamilton and Rural Family Health team, but is Predominantly working in Hamilton area.These are newly established positions, offering a unique opportunity to help shape and develop our community nursing serviceWe require flexibility from staff to work across both the rural and urban settings as part of the District Nurse position.This is a 7 day a week service with hours between 8am - 5pm, and the successful applicant will be required to work rostered duties, including weekends and some on-call.

Click here to view the position description. About the ServiceDistrict nurses provide a wide range of services in their local communities, often visiting people in their home. We work closely with allied health staff such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Our district nurse teams work from 16 bases across the Waikato District Health Board.District nurses provide a comprehensive range of quality, patient-focused, professional and holistic nursing services to patients through-out the life-span in the community setting.

This requires a person who is adaptable, dynamic and able to work autonomously. The district nurse role includes; advanced assessment, management, support and education for wound management, compression therapy, IV management, palliative/end of life care in the rural setting, continence assessment, catheter management, ostomy management, assessment for acute personal care and home help, support with home oxygen / respiratory patients, rheumatic fever secondary prevention prophylaxis and liaison/referrals with other health professionals.
