Minimum Working Hours: 30 hours per week
Pay & Benefits: $27 - $32 per hour (negotiable depending on experience/qualification)
Regulating temperatures of ovens, tandoors, grills and other cooking equipment
Preparing and cooking Indian dishes such as curries, biryanis, tandoori items, naan and other regional specialties
Seasoning food during cooking using appropriate Indian spices and flavours
portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces, chutneys and garnishes
storing food and prepared items in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements
Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal)
May plan menus and estimate food and spice requirements in consultation with the head chef/management

Qualification or Work Experience : Any NZQA Level 4 qualification (or above) OR 2 years of work experience required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Examining foodstuffs and ingredients (including spices, herbs and meats) to ensure quality and freshnessRegulating temperatures of ovens, tandoors, grills and other cooking equipment
Preparing and cooking Indian dishes such as curries, biryanis, tandoori items, naan and other regional specialties
Seasoning food during cooking using appropriate Indian spices and flavours
portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces, chutneys and garnishes
storing food and prepared items in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements
Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal)
May plan menus and estimate food and spice requirements in consultation with the head chef/management
May train other kitchen staff and apprentices in Indian cooking methods, food safety and kitchen procedures
