Are you a caring and dedicated individual looking for a rewarding opportunity? Salisbury School, a specialist residential school for girls, is seeking a Kaiawhina Whare (Residential Support Worker) to join our team for permanent weekday afternoon shifts.
About the Role:As a Kaiawhina Whare, you will play a vital role in supporting and caring for students in a nurturing residential environment. You’ll help students develop independence, provide positive behaviour support, and ensure their overall well-being.
- Permanent, part-time role - starting as soon as a suitable candidate is sought
- Weekend morning shifts: Saturdays & Sundays, 7.00 am - 3.30 pm
- Penal rates apply as per the Specialist Residential Schools Collective Agreement
- Based at Salisbury School, Richmond, Tasman
- Paid for 52 weeks per year but only required to work for 40 weeks (+ staff days/callback days) – meaning you receive approximately 11 weeks of paid holiday per year!
- A compassionate, reliable, and proactive approach
- Prior experience in caregiving, education, or working with diverse learners (essential)
- Strong communication & teamwork skills
- Ability to provide positive behaviour support (full training is given) and confidence working with challenging behaviours
- Commitment to culturally responsive practices and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Physically active and open to outdoor activities
- An ability to drive a manual van
