Opportunity for Animals – Pito One/Petone, Wellington- 20 hours per week (mostly flexible, paid position)
Opportunity for Animals, our new op shop in Pito One/Petone, is looking for a part-time Shop Manager to help lead our friendly team.
The shop raises vital funds for The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary in Otaki, supporting rescued animals and promoting compassion. We’re seeking someone who shares our values of animal rights and ethical living, and who is excited to contribute their skills to a meaningful cause.
About the role:
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop, including:
- Managing and supporting a team of up to 20 volunteers
- Creating and maintaining volunteer rosters, sourcing and training new volunteers
- Ensuring the shop is well presented, welcoming and running smoothly
- Overseeing pricing, stock rotation, and basic admin tasks
- Providing excellent customer service and representing the sanctuary’s values
- Has experience in retail and/or team management (paid or voluntary)
- Is well-organised, reliable and a good communicator
- Is confident working independently and taking initiative
- Lives locally or within easy commuting distance of Pito One/Petone
- Shares or is open to learning about animal rights principles and vegan values
- Part-time paid position (15-20 hours/week – most days and times flexible)
