Part-Time UX/UI Designer (3-Month Contract)
At Portainer, we work to make Docker and Kubernetes management straightforward and painless for Enterprise IT teams. Many of our customer satisfaction survey results mention the ease of use and clear design of Portainer. This part-time contractor role is charged with helping maintain (and improve!) that.
We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer to join us on a part-time, 3-month contract. You’ll be diving straight into specific projects. You’ll collaborate closely with our Product and Engineering teams to design features that balance technical depth with usability, making complex tasks feel simple and safe.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to contribute their design expertise to meaningful, well-scoped projects on a flexible, part-time basis and see their work shipped into a product used by hundreds of thousands of people every day.
Requirements
Ideally you would:
- Bring strong experience designing complex software products.
- Be proficient in Figma, our primary design tool.
- Have a solid grasp of user experience principles and how to apply them in practice.
- Be comfortable collaborating closely with Product and Engineering, working iteratively to deliver value.
And as a bonus:
- Some understanding of software engineering, or infrastructure tooling such as Docker or even Kubernetes
Benefits
Portainer is growing rapidly and is already established in the enterprise space; however, we're still very much in our infancy. We believe we're at the start of a wild ride, and we’re still small enough that every team member has a visible impact!
Contracting to Portainer for this 3 month gig as a part-time UX/UI Designer will give you:
- Impact at scale: The opportunity to help shape a globally adopted product and contribute to a fast-growing company with a strong enterprise focus.
- Flexibility with connection: The ability to work remotely within an async-first, time zone friendly culture, with occasional in-person meetups to build stronger collaboration.
- Global collaboration: The chance to work with a world-class distributed team, tackling complex technical challenges across diverse environments.
- Growth and development: Access to a huge amount of collective knowledge, along with training, mentoring, and development opportunities to help you continue levelling up.
