New World Aokautere is a small format Supermarket in Palmerston North. We are locally owned and operated and part of the Foodstuffs North Island Cooperative. We are seeking a Butcher or Butchery Apprentice (or someone that is interested in pursuing a career in butchery long term) who is genuinely passionate about food. If you are motivated, self-confident & a team player this is for you! This role could also suit someone semi-retired.

This role is the following days and times:

Thursday: 7am 12pm

However if the successful candidate is willing to work outside of the butchery department and assist in other areas of the store, this could be a 40 hour a week role.

Our Butchery department boasts a good range of fresh local and imported butchery products. We are proud to have butchers on site that deliver exceptional basic and add-value products.

Whether you are just getting started in your butchery career, or winding down from it, we would love to hear from you. Ideally you will have expertise in small goods, gourmet cuts and experience in sausage making.

There are opportunities to develop in this role, and you will also qualify for our 5% team discount off groceries.

• FMCG, fresh food or food retail experience.
• Trade Qualification preferred but not essential.
• Has experience with Food Control Plans & Health and Safety in a work environment.
• Unit 167 and 168 is preferred but not essential.
• Good knowledge of butchery cuts
• Great Customer Service.
• Physically fit and high level of personal presentation.
• Good understanding of both written and spoken English & Maths.
