Bay of Plenty: Permanent Part-time (0.5 FTE)Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleThe Palliative Care service provides specialist care to people referred from inpatient secondary care services at Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals.

The service operates in a consultant liaison capacity with patients remaining under the admitting clinician for inpatient service. In this capacity, the role of the Palliative care team is to undertake assessment and specialist management planning to support patients and families to achieve their aspirations for the next phase of their life journey.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe team works closely with community providers across the Bay of Plenty to support safe transitions of care and contribute to future management plans.As a specialist service, the clinicians also contribute to ongoing education of both undergraduate and post graduate trainees alongside providing specialist knowledge to the development and review of the wider palliative care service across the district and region.
