Keegan is an accomplished sing-songwriter who is actively involved in music, outings and socialising within his local community. He has a range of high complex needs; he has his own separate living area in the main house and requires support of a team 24/7.

The Role

We are looking for someone to join an existing team, working a minimum of 30 day (disturbed) hours a week, with a minimum of 3 days in a row, 10-hour day shifts (14 hour night shifts), over a 7 day week period. Parts of the day are double staffed (with some flexibility required to allow for outings).

This position also includes night shifts, which are paid at our undisturbed rate.

Duties:
  • Personal care and experience with mobility equipment (hoists, wheelchairs etc...)
  • Emotional Support
  • Assisting with recreational and vocational activities
  • Meal preparation
  • Maintaining a tidy and clean environment
  • Assisting with medication
  • Working independently yet effectively in a self-managed team

Skills required:
  • An NZQA level 4 National Certificate in Mental Health and Wellbeing or equivalent qualification
  • Professionals from other sectors will be considered: nursing, OTs, education,..
  • Proven experience in delivering disability and mental health support
  • Being energetic, passionate about supporting your client towards his goals, hopes and dreams
  • Ability to create an authentic and genuine rapport with someone with complex needs through provision of consistent support
  • Initiative and organisational skills
  • Ability to look beyond barriers and think of ways to always empower your client
  • Empathy and nurturing personality, with a sense of humour
  • Honesty, reliability, punctuality
  • Ability to respectfully work in a whanau environment
  • Full driving licence
