Caregiver- MustAvailability Nights and Weekends.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To deliver Quality Care to the Residents of this facility, in accordance with relevant care standards and current good and safe practice, duty schedules, and in an attitude of co-operation and helpfulness.
The HCA will have a wide range of technical or scholastic skills, and will have choice in procedures used, in familiar and unfamiliar contexts. Will be self directed, under broad guidance, with complete responsibility for quantity and quality of output for themselves and with possible responsibility for the output of others.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS: Experience and qualifications appropriate to the position
- A broad knowledge base incorporating some theoretical concepts

- To comply with the relevant policies related to punctuality, correct maintenance of time records, sick call procedure, professional appearance and conduct, smoking policy and all House Rules.

- To safely, efficiently and effectively deliver care by prioritising attendance to Resident's needs and delivering the best care possible according to duty schedules, and the Nursing Procedure Manual.
- This includes requesting assistance in difficult care delivery situations.
- Ensure that all routine cares are delivered as per resident’s care plans including, showering, dressing, mobilising, grooming, nutritional assistance.
- As required the HCA might have to do Laundry, and perform cleaning and kitchen duties in a helpful manner and maintaining good infection control principles.
- There is an obligation of all staff to observe privacy, dignity, comfort & confidentiality of residents.
- Keep confidential all facility’s business
- To be an effective Team worker with consideration for other employees. It is required that record of reports are current, informative rather than merely gratuitous. The HCA is to be flexible, show initiative and be tolerant and understanding when duties are busy. To be readily adaptable to change.
- To be a good communicator with Residents and staff. Observe and report any changes in the resident’s condition and vital signs.
- Attendance and a positive contribution to staff meetings is required.
- To follow sound basic hygiene and infection control principles particularly in relation to hand washing.
- To develop professionally. This includes attendance of annual Education and training sessions as per our schedule and legislative requirements, one of which must be FIRE AND HEALTH AND SAFETY.
- To perform other duties as may be reasonably required to maximise the Resident's safety and sense of wellbeing.
- To participate in annual performance appraisals.
- Adhere to Health and Safety Policies. Report any hazards and incidents and accidents. Cooperate with any investigations. Attend relevant training.
- Assist with meal serving following sound infection control principles. Assist resident’s who need help. Observe resident’s intake and report any discrepancies.
- Commitment to helping Residents in a continuing care environment.

- A caring considerate attitude and responsiveness to the care of the Elderly.
- Ability to adapt to change and to work efficiently under pressure.
- Good organisation and prioritising skills.
- Honesty, integrity, conscientiousness, and industriousness.
- Previous experience in care of the elderly, IHC and/or psychiatric residents.
- Good communication skills.
- Good understanding, able to follow instructions.
- Awareness of ways to optimise independence of residents.
- Understanding of Residents rights, Advocacy and privacy.
