Truck Driver - Class 4/5

When not driving a truck, you will be expected to assist the team with general site work.

• Participation in the company’s health and safety systems on-site and the reporting of all incidents and near misses
• Operating a range of class 2, 4 and 5 trucks, transporting various construction and excavated material
• Manoeuvring and positioning trucks for loading and unloading
• Transporting and disposing of contaminated materials at tip sites and landfills
• Conducting daily pre-start checks on vehicles/machines before operating, reporting all faults and concerns
• Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness, presentation and operational safety
• Liaising with Site Managers and Project Managers to ensure safe and timely delivery and collection of materials
• Participating in daily toolbox meetings with other staff and subcontractors
• Ensuring work is carried out to the highest environmental standards, and reporting issues to Site Managers
• Contributing to a safe work site and safe working practices
• Identifying, recording and mitigating against hazards associated with specific tasks.
• Organise and manage required loading and tipping documentation as required
• 100% compliance with Land Transport Act 1998 and all associated legislation i.e. logbook keeping, load security, etc.

• Have a successful track record of 10+ years of truck driving and at least 5+ years of class 4/5 truck driving
• Hold a clean driver's license with class 1,2,4, and ideally class 5
• WTR endorsement with relevant experience would be a bonus
• Preferably have experience in the civil and/or construction industry
• Be physically fit for occasional manual handling
• Have excellent communication skills and be fluent in both written and verbal English
• Have a “safety first” mindset, always identifying hazards and risks and following safe operating procedures
• Be punctual, reliable, well-organised, trustworthy and flexible to start early and finish late when required
• Have a positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team as required
• Be a tidy, hygienic person, taking personal responsibility for their workspace and pride in their vehicles
• Be drug-free and confident to pass regular random drug tests
• Able to legally live and work in New Zealand – no visa sponsorship available
• Come with strong work references and recommendations
