Heavy Diesel Mechanic - Waikato

• Stellar Recruitment currently have multiple Heavy Diesel Mechanic positions available in the Waikato region
• Full time, permanent work with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
• Your ordinary hours of work will be 40 hours per week normally worked between 6:00am 6:00pm Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to work the occasional Saturday.
• $31 to $38 per hour depending on experience.

• You must have at least 2 years of relevant automotive and/or engine work experience. You must be able to work within the timeframe of the project and be a reliable member of the team.
• Knowing, understanding, communicating, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements, and company safety policies and procedures.

• Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel vehicles, including trucks, buses, bulldozers and other earthmoving equipment, tractors, stationary engines (e.g. generators, pumps, compressors and drilling rigs) and agricultural machinery
• Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition and ignition timing, fuel injection systems and speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, and wheel balance and alignment.
• Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of diesel engines that are used to power attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapers, buckets and augers.
• Use oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welding, hand fitting or machining processes to replace or repair faulty parts.

Our clients currently have projects across the regions of Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and we aim to place successful candidates into projects within one of these regions based on their place of residence or preference. Daily commuting between regions and projects will not be expected but should projects within a particular region cease, relocation to an alternative region may be required, in which case notice will be given, and relocation policies will apply.
