About the Role

Community Health Service Kapiti has a Health Care Assistant (HCA) position available. The shifts are 5 hours, the morning shift is from 8am to 13.30pm, Monday to Sunday. Evening shifts are from 5pm to 10pm.

Community Health Services provides assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and support services to individuals and families in their homes. We offer an orientation programme and on-going education to our HCA - s. Police vetting is required if not currently employed by Capital Coast.

HCA - s provide assistance with activities of daily living such as personal care and household tasks for patients who are temporarily incapacitated through illness or are post-surgery. A close relationship is maintained with the professional nursing staff (District Nurses) working in the area for on-going assessment and advice in delivery of personal care.

The salary range for this role is MECA Step 3 to 5 $67,330 to $70,358 - pro rata for part time.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Community Health Service, Kapiti Health Care Assistants team is based at the Kapiti Health Centre, Warrimoo Street Paraparaumu.
The HCA
  • s support the discharge of patients from the hospital health service (HSS) into the Kapiti community setting.
The HCA
  • s work in the community setting with patients receiving personal care and home help.
The HCA
  • s work under the direction and delegation of the district nurses, the district nurses assess the patient who is requiring personal care and complete the patient care plan and hand over the patient care to the HCA.

About you

To be successful in this role, you are required to have:

  • Completed level three NZQA qualifications in Community Support Services (or its equivalent).
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A current driver licence is essential
