About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional and energetic Registered Nurse to join our Orthopaedics Operating Theatre team as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator at Waikato Hospital.

Waikato Hospital is one of the regions leading trauma centres, with Orthopaedics Theatres providing lifesaving care to both acute and planned patients, including those flown in from across Te Manawa Taki. This role offers the opportunity to coordinate a wide variety of complex and highacuity orthopaedic cases in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.

About the Service

The Theatres and Anaesthesia department at Waikato Hospital is comprised of 24 Operating Theatres, a Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit and Day of Surgery Admission Unit. A wide range of surgical specialties include Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Vascular, Cardiac, Urology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Paediatrics, Delivery Suite, Gynaecology, Maxillofacial and more.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Co-Ordinator Orthopaedics Theatres, you will need the following professional requirements for the role:

  • A minimum of 8 years post-registration experience in Orthopaedic Theatre Nursing with comprehensive knowledge of acute and elective orthopaedic procedures and workflows.
  • Strong clinical leadership skills with proven experience in co-ordinating, leading, supporting and mentoring a multidisciplinary team in highly complex orthopaedic operating lists.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and respond effectively to complex and high-pressure clinical situations, using high-level clinical judgement and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with surgeons, anaesthetists and wider clinical teams
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety, quality, and evidence-based practice.
