Role: Breast Fellow, based at Waikato Hospital Fixed Term one yearFellow (Post Fellowship Training accredited) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the RoleThis position provides an excellent opportunity for someone who wants further advanced experience in breast surgery and, if desired, endocrine surgery. The position is at Senior Registrar level working with our team of 6 subspecialized breast and breast/endocrine surgeons.
The position offers exposure to oncoplastic techniques, involvement with the Te Manawa Taki Breast Cancer Screening Programme, clinical trials work, along with basic and advanced endocrine techniques such as laparoscopic adrenalectomy and minimally invasive parathyroidectomy.
All work occurs in the context of a strong multidisciplinary environment. On call duties provide an excellent opportunity to consolidate general surgical skills. The Fellow position is part of the General Surgery Department and is available for the 2026/2027 year for 12 months.

The population base for the Waikato region is 425,000. The catchment for specialty tertiary care in the broader Te Manawa Taki region is 1,007,000. Waikato Hospital has a busy elective and acute General Surgical service and provides tertiary care for Breast, Endocrine, Colorectal, Upper gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, Bariatric, and Trauma surgery.
