Role One– Full-Time / 80 hours per fortnight
In this role, you will be supporting four young men who benefit from strong motivation, encouragement, and structure.
Support will include:
- Encouraging home management, cleaning, and healthy meal preparation
- Very active individual and
- Supporting social skills, emotional regulation, and anger management
- Assisting with university work, including typing essays and developing ideas
- Supporting interests such as cars, machinery, gardening, building, and fixing things
- Cooking, budgeting, and general home management
Key attributes for this role:
- Fit and healthy, resilient, and reliable
- Excellent written and spoken English (academic level required)
- Clear communication skills and strong personal hygiene
- Good sense of humour and a calm, motivating approach
Role Two – 64 hours per fortnight
In this role, you’ll support adults with intellectual disabilities—both men and women—to live safely, independently, and with confidence in their own homes. You’ll provide practical and emotional support that builds skills, wellbeing, and community connection.
Support includes:
- Assisting a diverse group of adults (both men and women) with daily living tasks
- Maintaining clean, organised, and well-managed homes
- Aiding in meal planning, cooking, shopping, and budgeting
- Helping to develop social skills and effective communication
- Supporting emotional regulation and anger management
- Encouraging safe and meaningful participation in the community
- Promoting independent, safe living while enhancing overall well-being
Activities may include gardening, working on vehicles, painting, crafting, gaming, swimming, long walks, gym sessions, and decluttering. The role would suit someone with hobbies similar to these activities.
This role suits someone who is cheerful, patient, and resilient, communicates clearly and confidently, sets strong boundaries, stays calm when problem-solving, is physically active and comfortable around water, role-models healthy lifestyles, and understands the importance of “doing with” rather than “doing for.”
About You
We’re looking for Support Workers who bring patience, empathy, consistency, and a calm, grounded approach—especially when supporting people who may at times display challenging behaviours. A sense of humour, strong communication skills, and alignment with our values are essential to success in this role.
You’ll be available to work a rostered schedule, including weekends, and meet the following essential requirements:
Essential Requirements- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- Willingness to undergo Police and Oranga Tamariki vetting
- Experience supporting people with complex or challenging needs
- Experience supporting people with Autism
- Strong computer literacy
- High level of written and spoken English (as you will be assisting with academic work)
