About the role- Kōrero mō te tūranga This is a fixed-term role through to February 2027, covering a secondment while the current staff member undertakes a different role elsewhere in the Ministry.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape how the Ministry builds and connects its business analysis capability.
As part of the Business Process Management team, you'll lead the Business Analysis Community of Practice—bringing together practitioners, promoting consistent standards, and supporting quality assurance across projects.You'll also play a key role in maintaining and improving published policies and processes and provide early-stage problem solving and scoping support for teams navigating change.
Occasionally, you may step in as a BA for small initiatives where dedicated support isn't available.
Lead the establishment and growth of the Business Analysis Community of Practice within the Ministry.
Support stakeholders with problem solving and scoping when it's unclear whether a business need should be progressed as a formal change Potentially acts as a BA for small-scale initiatives where dedicated BA support is not available or required.

We'd like to hear from you if you are an experienced Business Analyst with the following skills and experience: Proven experience in business analysis, process improvement, or business process management.
Ability to lead communities of practice or capability uplift initiatives.Experience in quality assurance of BA deliverables and process documentation.
Ability to support early-stage problem solving and scoping Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
