What does a Support Worker do?

You will be supporting clients within Banks Peninsula with a range of everyday needs, guided by their individual care plan. Your tasks may include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Personal Care and Daily Living Assistance: You will assist with transfers, personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation.
  • Medication: Medication Prompting and Mediation Administration
  • Household Tasks: You will perform housekeeping duties including bed making, laundry, drying the shower, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the client you support.
  • Shopping and Errands: You will assist with grocery shopping
  • Bowel Management and Catheter Management

This is at least 18 rostered hours per week (excluding the time travel) so there is plenty of opportunity for you to have extra income!

Shifts run across both mornings and evenings throughout the week to ensure our clients receive consistent care and support. While the schedule below shows current shift options in Little River and Akaroa, we do ask that you are available for at least one weekend day to help us maintain reliable support for our clients.

Little River

Monday to Sunday: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

10:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Akaroa

Monday to Sunday: 7:00 am – 8:30 am

9:00 am – 10:00 am
8:00 am – 9:00 am

10:00 am – 11:00 am

What We Are Looking For | A matou e kimi nei
  • Minimum Level 2 in Health and Wellbeing qualification or its equivalent from another country is beneficial but not necessary.
  • Full NZ Driver's License
  • A reliable vehicle of your own
  • A valid and current Basic First Aid Certificate is required. If you do not have one, you must provide evidence of a confirmed booking before starting employment.
