Child Protection Coordinator - Te Puaruruhau, Starship Child HealthNew Zealand’s premier children’s hospitalPermanent, Full time role with flexibilityCrucial role for the smooth functioning of a busy departmentLocation: GraftonHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the roleWe have an exciting permanent, fulltime Child Protection Coordinator role available within Te Puaruruhau, Starship Child Health who will work with staff across Te Toka Tumai as well as various external agencies.

As an experienced practitioner, this role also has a responsibility for improving the quality of child protection practice and safe guarding high standards of care in Te Toka Tumai by supporting an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.Our preference for this position is a registered Social Worker.If you have skills and experience in Child Protection from nursing or other Allied Health categories, and this role sounds interesting, we would love to talk with you.The successful candidate will initially focus on scoping current systems and processes to find any current gaps and enable planning for future systems development.

This role also provides education and training with a practice and policy focus to improve practice standards and health interventions for service users, including those groups who may be particularly vulnerable or overrepresented. About the Team/Service/ LocationTe Puaruruhau is a Starship Child Health, Te Toka Tumai health service for children and young people 0-18 years. The team offers a 24 hour urgent medical service for children and young people who may have experienced acute sexual harm or life threatening injuries as a result of possible maltreatment.

When Starship staff are concerned a child in hospital may have been hurt or harmed they must refer to us. We also provide consultation support for health professionals across the country.This role is based in Grafton.About youAs the ideal candidate for this role, you will:Have a recognised and relevant tertiary qualification in social work (at least a Bachelor of Social Work), or nursingHave New Zealand professional registration and current annual practicing certificateHave Membership of ANZASW (if a social worker)Have evidence of on-going personal and professional developmentHave significant experience in practice and policy developmentHave experience leading clinical audit, evaluation and quality improvementDemonstrate experience in project management Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and clinical applicationsWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
