General Manager
Orpheus Choir Wellington is New Zealand’s largest symphonic choir, with around 170 singers and a reputation for bold, high-impact performances. We regularly present major choral works in partnership with professional orchestras, and were recently recognised as a finalist in the 2024 Wellington Gold Awards.
We are looking for an ambitious General Manager to help shape the next chapter of the choir’s development. This is a varied role that would suit someone with strong marketing instincts, a talent for making things happen, and the confidence to work across communications, funding, and operations.
You will work closely with the Music Director, Board, and volunteer committees to support concert delivery, keep day-to-day operations running smoothly, and help drive the choir’s strategic goals. Experience using collaborative task management tools (e.g. ClickUp, Monday.com, Trello, or similar) to coordinate volunteer teams or project workflows is a bonus.
We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, takes initiative, and brings structure and follow-through to a busy creative environment. You should be comfortable using digital tools, shared documents, cloud storage and social media as part of your daily work.
This role is approximately 32 hours per week (to be negotiated).
Key responsibilities include:- Marketing and communications
- Developing and supporting funding strategies (grants, sponsorship, philanthropy)
- Supporting the delivery of events
- Managing budgets, reporting, and administration
- Supporting the Music Director, Board and committees
- Maintaining governance, compliance and key organisational records
- Helping to realise the choir’s strategic ambitions
Please email your application, including a CV and covering letter, to the Orpheus Choir Board Chair, Debbie Gee, at orpheuschair@gmail.com.
Applications close on Friday 22 August 2025.
