Health Care Assistant - Procedure Suite
Contract: Maternity leave cover ( October 2025 - April 2026) Fixed Term, Part Time 0.8 FTE Rostered and Rotating

About the Role
In the Procedure Suite this position will support the nursing teams to provide an effective practice environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Stock taking, ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels in the Procedure Suite
- Housekeeping and ensuring areas are kept clean and tidy
- Ensuring high quality patient care and consistency of standards are delivered within the expectations of best practice and organisational policy
- Preparing patients for their local anaesthetic procedures
- You will need to be able to readily build rapport with patients, clinicians and other staff to achieve quality outcomes for patients.
The salary range for this role is MECA Step 1-5, $60,100 - $70,358 pro rata.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Hutt Hospital, located in Lower Hutt, is a busy 270 bed General District Hospital.
The Procedure Suite is a growing, multi-specialty ambulatory service offering minor procedures under local and regional anaesthesia, and sedation for dental procedures. Specialties include Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, and Regional Plastic Surgery.
The department includes two consultation rooms, five surgical procedure rooms and an observation area. There is a core team consisting of an Associate Clinical Nurse manager, seven nurses, and an administration officer who you will be working alongside.
About you
You must have:
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3)
- 2 years Health Care Assistant experience within a hospital setting is desirable
- Experience working in a theatre environment is desirable
- Excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
