About the Role
As a Trainee Sterilising Technician, you will be working alongside qualified Sterile Services Technicians to clean, disinfect, check, and sterilise medical instruments and equipment so that they can be safely used in clinical procedures. The role is critical in preventing infection and supporting patient safety, whilst adhering to NZ healthcare standards.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Kaitaia Hospital is Health New Zealands northernmost hospital. It is a general hospital serving a widely scattered population. The Theatre department at Kaitaia Hospital has 2 theatres with 8 -day surgery beds and 3 recovery beds. The endoscopy unit has one endoscopy procedure theatre, and a 4-bed endoscopy day stay unit.

About you
Were looking for someone who brings an engaging, positive presence to the team and enjoys building great working relationships. There is on the job training with the expectation that you will complete the online training modules and pass to become a qualified Sterile Services Technician within 2 years of commencing the position.
Essential requirements:
Good numeric, literacy and computer skillsHigh attention to detail
Good teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina (standing, lifting heavy trays)
Strong documentation and record keeping skills
Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles and their application in the workplace
