Pay Equity: $25.00ph - $30.00ph
(depending on qualification held and its equivalence to the Certificate in Health and Wellbeing L4)

About the Service | Ko Te Whare O Waikato Services
Our Waikato services are responsible for delivering individual and clinical support programs for whaiora with high and complex needs from adult mental health and forensic mental health services.Together, we form a talented, effective, and multi-disciplinary team who pride ourselves on our ability to utilize our different skills, knowledges, and experiences (both personal and professional) to support our whaiora. By empowering our whaiora to build daily routines and by offering them on-going tools and encouragement, we support them to develop, grow, and flourish as individuals and within their communities.
About the Role | Nga mahi
We believe that Peer Support Workers play a vital role in achieving positive outcomes for our clients. Our kaimahi draw on their own lived experiences with mental health and/or addiction challenges, alongside the skills and knowledge they've gained working in community mental health settings.This unique combination enables them to empower whai ora to navigate and overcome the obstacles they encounter.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will build relationships with all whai ora registered with the service and work collaboratively to find personalised solutions that enable them to live and participate in their community. You will build on whaiora strengths to develop natural support networks for participation and to support them to integrate independently into the community.Critical to this role is the ability to communicate effectively and take a person-centred approach as you work alongside clinical teams and other community agencies to ensure we provide a wrap-around service for those we support.
You will have | Nga Pukenga
A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4, or equivalentPersonal lived experience with mental health and/or addictions (AOD) challenges and successful recovery
A Valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship
A Full NZ Driver's Licence
A valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship
Experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)
The ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective
Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery
