Make a Meaningful Impact — Join Spectrum Care as a Community Support Worker**

**Part Time - 32 Hours per week**

**$23.50 - $29.10 per hour**

**Whangarei Location**

**Empowering women to live meaningful lives.**

At **Spectrum Care**, we believe in supporting adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives — and we know that compassionate, capable support workers bring incredible strength to this mission. If you're someone who leads with empathy, communicates with heart, and thrives in a role that blends care with purpose, we'd love to welcome you to our team.

**About the Role**

This opportunity involves working in a warm, supportive home with **four young adult women** who live with **challenging behaviours**. They love swimming, going for walks, and enjoying time on the swings — so if you enjoy being active and outdoors, you'll fit right in!

You'll be part of a **rotating roster**, providing consistent, calming support that helps these women feel safe, empowered, and understood. Every day brings new moments of connection, growth, and joy.

**What You'll Do**

As a **Community Support Worker**, you'll help individuals:

  • Participate in community activities
  • Build social connections
  • Pursue work or education goals
  • Develop daily living skills
  • Feel supported, respected, and valued

**What You'll Bring**

We're looking for a support worker who is:

  • Naturally empathetic and nurturing
  • Calm and grounding in all situations
  • Energetic and able to keep up with active lifestyles
  • Skilled at setting boundaries with kindness and clarity
  • A great communicator — with families, colleagues, and the people you support
  • Willing to assist with personal care and daily living tasks
  • Confident with comprehension and communication

**Ideal Candidate**

You might be just who we're looking for if you:

  • Are interested in gaining a Level 3 (or higher) Community Support Worker qualification — we can support you to achieve this while you work
  • Have experience (or a strong interest) in supporting people with disabilities, mental health needs, or challenging behaviours — especially nonverbal individuals
  • Are reliable, committed, and passionate about helping others
  • Hold a full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Can pass a NZ police check
  • The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Microsoft Suite (Word, Email etc.), and Intranet
  • Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role

If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered:

  • at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or
  • a relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.

**Why Spectrum Care?**

We're proud to be an **equal opportunity employer** that celebrates diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and life experiences — whether you're returning to the workforce, changing careers, or looking for a role that aligns with your values.

**Ready to Make a Difference?**

If you're passionate about people and want a career that truly changes lives, **apply now** and become part of something extraordinary.
