Cook (Indian cuisine)

Minimum qualifications/experience: At least 2 years’ experience in Indian cooking or at least level 4 Diploma in Cooking or equivalent

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine food items to make sure they are fresh and meet quality standards.
• Set and adjust the temperatures of ovens, tandoor oven, and other cooking equipment.
• Prepare and cook a variety of foods according to recipes or instructions.
• Season food while it is cooking to achieve the right flavour.
• Portion cooked food, plate it neatly, and add sauces, gravies, or garnishes.
• Store food safely in temperature controlled fridges, freezers, or warmers.
• Prepare meals for people with special dietary needs when required.
• May help plan menus and estimate the amount of food needed.
• May train other kitchen staff and apprentices.

Other requirements:

• Must be able to work late nights, Public Holidays, and weekends.
• Familiarity with tandoor oven will be advantageous.
• Some experience with Indian street food items will also be advantageous.
