About this role:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a fun and dynamic team? We are seeking a Strategic Transport & Assets Manager to join our Transport team and lead a team of Roading Asset Engineers & Strategic Transport Planners.

What I do?
  • You will be accountable for the successful planning scoping of the forward work programme
  • You will have oversight of Business case development for long term projects along with key stakeholders (NZTA, Regional Councils group, RATA)
  • You will build relationships and work with Waka Kotahi to support wider state highway and regional projects and represent Council in these forums.
  • You will be accountable for successful planning and handover of both short- and long-term Growth as well as safety, resilience, efficiency projects to Capital Manager for delivery.
  • You will ensure effective procurement and contract management of all contractual engagements, including ensuring outcomes, value for money, relationship and organisational risks are managed effectively.

What I bring?
  • You will have at least 5-10 years of experience in the Strategic Asset Management of Transport sector.
  • A good knowledge of asset management and strategic planning of road construction and engineering principles.
  • A good understanding of local government
  • A coaching and empowering approach to people leadership
  • A commitment to Zero Harm and keeping yourself and others in the workplace safe.
  • An understanding of, or the desire to learn about, te ao Maaori and tikanga.
