About the role
Te Awakura is a 64 bed adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24 hour care for consumers experiencing acute mental illness. Our model of care focuses on integrated multidisciplinary teams and providing excellent care for consumers in the least restrictive manner.There are four wards that form Te Awakura: North, East, South and West.
There is a current vacancy in the North unit, comprising of 16 beds. The teams on these units work closely with the outpatient teams and other community services. Te Awakura is made up of passionate clinicians who work in the patients - best interests at all times.We have a supportive team culture and encourage opportunities for growth and development.
About You
You will be a NZ registered Social Worker or overseas equivalent and will be working with adults who have a range of mental health issues with the aim of decreasing the impact their illness has on tangata whaiora, their whanau, caregivers, significant others, and the community.Central to your success and enjoyment in this role will be your excellent communication and team work skills, an ability to build rapport with consumers, families and health providers and your interest in developing inpatient mental health Social Work practice.
In particular, you would contribute your significant social work knowledge to the service - s strong focus on family/whanau and cultural inclusive practice in an inpatient setting.
Supervision and support will be provided by the Social Workers within the Specialist Mental Health Service. The successful applicant will be supported to attend appropriate training courses relevant to this clinical social work role.
To succeed in this position it is essential you will;- Be a registered New Zealand Registered Social Worker or have eligibility to obtain.
- Have a passion for working with tangata whaiora and their whanau - s.
